Join the fun and test your knowledge at the annual CSRC Sputum Bowl! This fast-paced, team-based competition is open to both student and practitioner teams. The student competition takes place at the CSRC State SoCal Conference held in the spring.  The practitioner competition takes place at the CSRC NorCal Conference. Compete, connect, and showcase your respiratory care expertise.

How to Register

Register your team, prep with the rule book, and review past champions' tips. Spots are limited!

Student Division

To compete in the CSRC Student Sputum Bowl, follow these steps:

  1. Form Your Team
    Teams must consist of 3–4 currently enrolled respiratory care students from the same accredited program.
  2. Complete the Team Roster Form. Please include your regional contact. Find your regional contact here.

  3. Compete in the Regional Bowl
    Regional competitions determine which teams advance to the State Finals at the CSRC Annual Conference.
  4. Advance to State Finals
    If your team qualifies, you’ll be contacted by your regional rep with next steps, including travel, lodging, and CSRC State Conference registration.

Practitioner Division

Our Practitioner Division brings seasoned RCPs to the table for the ultimate trivia showdown. From bedside pros to academic aces, this is where California’s best flex their respiratory wit and clinical chops, proving that sharp minds and quick buzzers go hand in hand.

Here's how to register your team for the CSRC Practitioner Sputum Bowl:

  1. Form Your Team
    Each team must consist of 2–4 licensed Respiratory Care Practitioners. Teams do not need to be from the same facility or affiliated organization.

 A maximum of 8 teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

  2. Pay the Team Entry Fee – Waived for 2025
    A $100 team registration fee is required. Payment instructions will be sent upon confirmation. This is non-refundable.
  3. Conference Registration Required
    All team members must also be registered attendees of the CSRC Tahoe Conference.
